Sue Jones Johnson, a native of Mobile, Ala., graduated Huntingdon College in 1964 with a B.A. degree in art and English. She later studied under the late Anne Winslow of Tampa, Fla., and she has exhibited her art during Charleston’s Spoleto Festival USA, at the South Carolina State Fair, and several other venues in Alabama, Florida and South Carolina. Sue, an ardent reader, retired from the Charleston County Library System in 2007 as a readers’ adviser. She and her husband, the journalist/author Skip Johnson, live in Charleston.

Luke Platt has been capturing nature’s secrets on photographic film since the mid-1980s. Shooting primarily with a Mamiya RZ medium-format camera, Platt captures quiet, resonant moments in locations ranging from the ACE Basin National Refuge, the Francis Marion National Forest, and the southern Appalachian Mountains.
Platt has won awards for his photography including the Best of Show award in the 1997 Sierra Club Nature Photography Juried Exhibit & Competition. His work has been shown at the Footlight Players Gallery, the Artizom Gallery, and has been displayed at the offices of the Coastal Conservation League in Charleston, South Carolina. One of his images was made into a mural at the Sewee Visitor Center in Awendaw, SC. His photographs are included in both professional and private collections.
