Can’t Afford to Give Raises? Try Shortening the Work Week!

Washington’s San Juan County faced a tight budget and union-represented employees demanding their first raise since the pandemic.  The county’s solution? Leave the pay scale the same but reduce working time from five days a week to four days.  And the result was such a win-win for everyone that other governments are taking notice.
