Europe is Leading the Way to More Car-Free Cities

Car-free neighborhoods are rare in the  United States, but they are common in Europe because they improve air quality, reduce noise, and allow streets to be used for sidewalks, bike lanes and outdoor public space.  The tranquility that results from silencing that cacophony can lead to flourishing street life.
