Organic waste such as wood, food waste, agricultural waste and, perhaps most important of all, coffee grounds, usually ends up in landfills where it emits large amounts of greenhouse gases, including methane and carbon dioxide, that contribute to climate change. However, Australian scientists have found a way to use the waste instead of sand to make concrete. Early results show the system not only helps clean the air, but the resulting product is 30 percent stronger than concrete made with sand.
